Are you a young adult aged 16-25 living in Somerset who feels you could benefit from some support with your mental health?

We've Got This is here to support you to feel more positive about yourself, through providing you with fun, safe and purposeful environments to feel more empowered about your mental health and your life in general.We will support you with a peer mentor who can;
  • help you to talk about what you are feeling and experiencing
  • introduce you to ideas and approaches that other have found helpful
  • reassure you that you're not alone in how you are feeling
  • help you to connect with others and give you a sense of belonging
  • encourage you to value your strengths
  • build your self-esteem and confidence
  • help you to feel more hopeful about the future

Our peer mentors have been where you are now and use their own experiences to offer you support to help you feel better about yourself, recognise your self-worth, as well as help you build positive social networks through community groups. Each peer mentor has their own areas of interest and we aim to match you up with a mentor who shares a similar interest to you.

What the support looks like:

We offer both group and 1-2-1 peer mentor support.
  • Group support - Our groups run weekly both online and face to face offering young adults a safe space, to meet and talk to people, including our very friendly peer mentors and trusted peers, take part in activities and discuss topics that are relevant to you. Check out our ‘The Team’ to find out more about our mentors.
  • 1-2-1 Peer Mentor Support - If you don’t feel that you are ready for a group setting our peer mentors can offer you 1-2-1 support for a number of sessions. This is either done out in the community or at the peer mentors centre.

 What our peer mentors are:

  • Experts by Experience - Our peer mentors have been where you are now and use their own experiences to offer you support to help you feel better about yourself, recognise your self-worth, as well as help you build positive social networks through community groups.
  • Connectors – We will help you to find community groups and support you to attend until you feel happy to go alone!
  • Advocates – We will represent you while supporting you to find your voice for yourself.

What our peer mentors are not:

  • Counselling – We can help to signpost you to some fab counselling services, but we are not trained counsellors.
  • Therapists - Our mentors are experts by experience not trained therapists, if you think this is the level of intervention that you think you or the person you are nominating needs then this isn’t the right support for you.
  • Unlimited Support - While our mentors are committed to supporting you our goal is to support you to feel more empowered with your own mental health and to equip you to be able to better deal with life’s everyday challenges.
  • Children/Adult Social Care – We work very closely with children and adult social care, but we are not an alternative to them, our support is quite different.
